Dubai Airshow Records $63.3 Billion Deals

It was Dubai’s 40th anniversary celebrations day when Dubai enjoyed the biggest event called ‘The Dubai Airshow’. The show went on from 13 November to 17 November 2011 and welcomed more than 50,000 visitors, a record breaking number! The show saw the highest number of visitors and made the 12th edition of ‘The Dubai Airshow’ the biggest event in Dubai. The show also overtook the Airport Expo that displayed the colours of UAE flag during the celebrations of 40th anniversary by being the most colourful show.

It bagged $63.3 billion worth of orders for aircraft, maintenance services and flight training programmes and opened the doors to success. It proved to be very successful for Boeing as it saw the Middle East introduction of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which attracted keen attention of thousands of visitors. Charlie Miller, vice-president (international communication) of Boeing said that they are looking forward to great partnerships and agreements with UAE and across the Middle East as a whole.

According to the reports the show was bigger and better than ever. The week went quite busy and happening because of its striking aerial displays, incredible orders and crowds. The managing director stated that they had promised to make the ‘Dubai Show’ the most spectacular and the show gained an eye-popping success. He also added that the end of the show now triggers preparations for Dubai Airshow in 2013 at World Central.

During this show, Emirates ordered 50 of the long-haul Boeing 777-300ER for a record $18 billion, while Qatar Airways purchased 50 Airbus A320neo single-aisles and ordered 10 long-haul A380. The world’s number one aircraft manufacturers, Airbus, basked a highly successful airshow and bagged landmark commercial airplane orders, high-level customer engagement and an unmatched display of technologically advanced aircraft. John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer also asserted the views by stating that it was the record show for Airbus, the Toulouse-based aircraft manufacturer. Aviation Capital Group (ACG), a US-based aircraft leasing company signed a contract with airbus. Stephen Hannahs, CEO & GMD of ACG revealed that they are seeing a much stronger demand for their fuel-efficient aircrafts such as A320neo.
