Canadian teen singing sensation Justin Bieber is making money for charity by auctioning his hair clippings and already the bids are up to $7,000.
Fans of the “Never Say never” star have put in bids to ebay to try and snap up the hair clippings from their idol with 61 people putting their money where their mouth is so far and five days left before the online auction ends.
The bizarre charity fundraiser began after Justin Bieber gave some hair clippings to US talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres on her show earlier in the week with him saying: “we're doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want to,” as he handed over a signed perspex box of his clippings to the host.
Ellen DeGeneres said in response: “I'm going to auction this off and give the money to Gentle Barn.”
Gentle Barn is a charity that is based around the rescuing, rehabilitation and giving of sanctuary to abused animals.
The teen star also joked that he had been inspired by the talk show host in his latest haircut but then revealed the reason behind the cut saying: “I just wanted to, that's all, not really a big reason; I just woke up and said “I don't want this anymore”, so I just cut it.”
Meanwhile, Justin is currently gearing up to celebrate his 17th birthday, however if reports are to believed Bieber will be having a “relaxing” birthday eating cheesecake with his grandparents.
When Bieber spoke to E! Online he said: “I only have, like, four days, so I'm just going to relax because I start my world tour on March 4 so just going to mentally prepare and relax:”
He added: “No birthday bash...Hopefully my grandparents will be out here and I'll be able to spend time, a little bit, with them. My Grandmother makes the best cheesecake, cherry cheesecake. She made it for my 13th birthday.”
