New Zealand Allblacks competes annually with Australia and South Africa in the Tri Nations, and are currently champions for the tenth time in the tournament’s 15-year history. They are the current holders of the Bledisloe Cup, competed for annually with Australia, the Freedom Cup, contested annually with South Africa, and have completed a Grand Slam four times (in 1978, 2005, 2008 and 2010), defeating all four Home Nations during one tour.

The All Blacks kick off their Investec Tri Nations campaign the following weekend on Saturday 30 July against South Africa at Westpac Stadium, Wellington, followed by the first 2011 Bledisloe Cup clash against Australia at Eden Park, Auckland, on Saturday 6 August. The All Blacks away leg of the Investec Tri Nations will see them play South Africa in Port Elizabeth on Saturday 20 August and Australia in Brisbane on Saturday 27 August.

All Blacks squad :

The All Blacks Coaches announced the squad for the 2011 Investec Tri Nations and the All Blacks Test against Fiji For Canterbury, with the selection of new All Black Jarrad Hoeata and the return of several All Blacks the key features of the 30-strong squad.

The squad, which will be captained by All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, is made up of 16 forwards and 14 backs and packs huge experience with 1028 Test caps between them.

South Africa Tri-Nations Preview:

The Springboks loss theire first tri nations match for five tries to two and running out 39-20 at ANZ Stadium last saturday evening in front of a vocal crowd of 52,788.

A two-time World Cup winner, South Africa quickly resumed its place as one of Australia’s fiercest on-field rivals, after returning to international sporting competition following an end to the apartheid-enforced isolation, in 1992. South Africa re-emerged at a time where Australia held the Rugby World Cup, and the state of competition between the two countries has generally been a lot tighter in the years since isolation ended, than it was in the period before apartheid South Africa was shunned.

The current close links between the two SANZAR partnership member nations are reinforced by the participation of their respective provincial teams in the annual Investec Super 14 competition. South Africa currently holds both the Rugby World Cup and the Tri-Nations title.
